Why are browser extensions with read and write permissions on all sites dangerous?

THEY CAN SILENTLY READ TYPED PASSWORDS, CARD NUMBERS, AND INTERCEPT COOKIES.
Upon installation, plugins request access to all user web activity. The developer, or a scammer who buys the extension, can inject a hidden script to harvest sensitive info.

Data Interception via Web Injections

Page access permissions allow extensions to inject arbitrary JavaScript into all open tabs. Malicious scripts act as keyloggers: they intercept clicks, read login form input fields before submission, and swap out cryptocurrency wallet addresses in the clipboard.
